I Climb the Mountain of My Dead Selves | Loui Crow Lyric | 11 oz. Mug

$17.00
I wrote that line in the song "Dirty Mirror, Don't Care" from my album Mirror, Mirror Off The Wall.

It came from a place I know well — the slow, exhausting work of letting go of who I used to be. The false selves. The survival masks. The versions of me that kept me safe but also kept me small. The Hesitator, the Escapist, the Smotherer, the Mimic. All the ghosts I buried in my album FVNERAL of False Selves.

I wrote about them. I gave them each funeral.

The mountain is the work of becoming. It's not a straight line. It's messy. It's steep. Sometimes I slip. But the view is worth the corpses. Because from up here, I can see how far I've come. I can see that I'm not the person who couldn't look in the mirror anymore.

Louise Hay taught that we've been bullying ourselves for years, and that maybe we could try being kind instead. But I couldn't get there right away. I had to feel my anger first. I had to learn to look without flinching before I could say kind things to myself.

I wrote this for the ghosts I buried. But I share it because I know I'm not the only one with a mountain of dead selves. If you're letting a survival self rest — the one who learned to brace, to shrink, to perform — I see you. The climb is hard. The view is worth it. You're not at the bottom anymore. You've come far enough to look back and see the distance. That's not nothing. That's everything.

And honestly? You don't need my mug. You just need the reminder. Whether it's a cup you already love, a sticky note on the fridge, or a picture of your younger self — what matters is that you've come a long way. I thought this one turned out nice, so I put it out there in case someone else needed the reminder too.

Thank you for looking. Thank you for still climbing.
