I wrote the song "Crow" because I needed a witness. Someone who wouldn't flinch. Someone who could hold the heavy parts without looking away. The line "Crow stays near. Crow doesn't flinch when the grief gets clear" came out of that need.
Crows hold funerals for their dead. They gather. They don't look away. I wanted that for myself - someone to stand with me while I grieved, while I screamed, while I learned to stop running from the hard parts.
I've spent years avoiding my own reflection. Learning to look in the mirror changed that. Louise Hay taught me that maybe, just maybe, I could try being kind to myself instead of bullying myself. Abraham Hicks taught me that I can't get there from here. I have to find the next best feeling, even if it's small. Even if it's just a breath or petting a cat.
The crow reminds me of the moment you decide to stop fighting yourself. It's a quiet witness, keeping watch while you feel what you need to feel.
