Lyrics

[INTRO — Crow voice]

Thank you for joining the ritual.
We interrupt this funeral
For an interlude…
This is the in-between you.
A little play
Will cleanse the residue.
And play doesn’t betray—
It keeps the ghosts away.
(keeps the ghosts away)

[VERSE 1 — naming the state]

It’s getting a little old,
bargaining with ghosts.
Crow says…
Memory isn’t erased by motion—
Just don’t stay in the emotion.
Tell the ghost—
I see your fear—
You kept me going
All those years.
But you’ve got to rest
’cause I’m out of tears.

I’m learning to lighten up along the way—
none of this was meant to stay.

(pause)

[PRE-CHORUS — threat → reframe → motion]

Ghost says: “danger
At every turn.”
I say: “maybe it’s
Just a lesson to learn.”
So I learn to play,
Let grief fade to gray.

[CHORUS — thesis / permission]

I live in the gap—
interlude—
Death isn’t that serious,
though it feels mysterious—
interlude—
funeral’s just a mood—
interlude—
exit mood—

(laugh)

[BRIDGE — liminal space / choice]

My hands don’t shake
when I turn this mess to art.
I can function without forgetting—
It’s all in the playing.
Between the eulogy
And the joke…
I’m not staying in the storm this time.
I can laugh and be mine.

(laugh!)

[PRE-CHORUS]

Ghost says: “danger
At every turn.”
I say: “maybe it’s
Just a lesson to learn.”
So I learn to play,
Let grief fade to gray.

[CHORUS]

I live in the gap—
interlude—
Death isn’t that serious,
though it feels mysterious—
interlude—
funeral’s just a mood—
interlude—
exit mood—

(laugh)

[OUTRO — Crow voice / spoken word like a eulogy]

Fold up the program.
Make it a bird.
Let it glide
down the aisle
over every shared word.

Now..

Stand near a window.
That’s the view.

Crow thanks you for the interlude.

About This Song

I wrote INTERLVDE in the middle of writing another album called FVNERAL — a long, serious walk through ghosts, survival patterns, and the versions of myself I built just to keep going. That work is heavy on purpose. I am using the 22 major arcana Tarot cards reversed for the “Ghosts”. (The false selves I created to survive). Each ghost gets a eulogy. And when I need a break from FVNERAL, I come back to INTERLVDE — a reminder not to take myself too seriously and learn to play.

I am safe now, and I’m learning how to unbrace and have more fun in life.

Crow’s Role in This Album

Crow is the host of this record.
Crow knows how to hold a room.

In many traditions, crow is a threshold creature — moving between worlds, carrying messages, remembering what others forget. In INTERLVDE, Crow speaks directly because this album lives in the in-between: between grief and laughter, ritual and play, seriousness and relief.

Crow does three things here:

  • She circles and guards the space.

  • She names what she sees

  • She opens exits so nothing gets stuck.

That’s why she talks like a eulogy and then laughs. That laugh is part of the magick.

INTERLVDE as Magick

This song works like chaos magick in practice.
practical, lived, embodied.

  • Language that reframes fear as information.

  • Repetition that softens my body.

  • Play as my integration point.

That’s the spell.

Some of my favorite teachers — Crowley, Louise Hay, Abraham Hicks — move through this song quietly:

Crowley shows up in the ritual frame and the permission to take my inner life seriously.
Louise Hay lives in the softness, the kindness, the willingness to speak to myself gently.
Abraham hums underneath it all: emotion as guidance, relief as alignment, play as a shift in state.

INTERLVDE is what happens when those ideas stop living in books and start living in my body.

The Truman Show Thread

My husband and I watched The Truman Show over and over when I was pregnant with our son, Truman. It became a kind of mirror for us — that moment where Truman realizes the world he’s been moving inside is constructed… and that he still gets to choose how he walks forward.

INTERLVDE sits right in that moment.

It’s the pause before the door.
The breath before the step.
The laugh that arrives when you realize you’re allowed to change the script.

Once you see the set, movement becomes possible. Play becomes possible.

Why This Song Breaks the Fourth Wall

INTERLVDE talks to me because this album is about presence.
Crow addresses the listener the way I want to hear it, regardless if it follows typical song writing. For me, my music is gentle self-hypnosis.

I write these songs to understand my own life — to unbrace, to soften, to rehearse safety, to practice becoming who I’m choosing to be. Sometimes it feels like a note passed between versions of me.

If someone else finds themselves in it, that feels like shared air. That’s why I leave breadcrumbs.

Closing the Space

INTERLVDE isn’t an escape from grief.
It’s a companion to it.

It clears residue.
It restores breath.
It reminds me — and anyone listening — that play is allowed, even mid-ritual.

Blessing from the Crow:

You are safe to pause.
You are safe to laugh mid-mistake
You are safe to rest without losing your depth.

May your play return quickly.
May you trust your own magick.
May your shoulders remember ease.
May your right eye show you you’re safe to be seen.
May the mirror meet you as a friend.

Stand near a window.
That’s the view.

A little crow’s on the wire,
keeping watch over you.

Crow folds the program into a bird and lets it fly because nothing here is meant to stay heavy.

Loui crow

This is a record of becoming.

I make music, practice mirror work, somatic rage fits, and small forms of magick that help me stay present and kind while things change.

I write songs for myself.

I talk through old patterns, grief, and survival habits as I notice them loosening.

I follow what supports me staying here — language, ritual, gentleness, curiosity.

Much of what lives here carries the influence of Louise Hay and Abraham Hicks, especially the idea that the body listens to language and that focus shapes experience.

Nothing here asks belief.

I share what I am learning as I go in case anyone resonates.

I leave breadcrumbs.

Take what feeds you.

Leave the rest for the birds.

I am molting.

You are welcome here.
