You are a star.
That line is from my song Father Crow, on the album Crow Family. I wrote that album to fill the gaps for Sarah. To build the external figures she needs now. Mother Crow. Father Crow. Sister. Brother. Lover. Child. The family that could hold what the real one could not. To “reparent myself feels like another chore. (Lavinia Brown inspired.)
Father Crow is the steady presence I need. The one who sees the ember and knows the smoke. The one who does not flinch when I show him my broken things. He is the voice that says: "Your heat belongs here. You cannot scare me. Your intensity is passion. I am not going anywhere."
The song is based on Hadit, the point of view, the secret center. Every man and every woman is a star. That is what Crowley wrote in the Book of the Law.
"You are a star. Not a moon. Shine through. Don’t reflect the room."
I am still learning to believe that. But I am closer than I was.

I call the light to me, and I stand in its truth.
That line is from my adaptation of the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. I call it the Mom Magick Ritual of Protection. It is a similar structure, just translated into English and made simpler. I wanted to feel it in my body, not just recite it in a language I did not fully understand.
The LBRP is the ritual I do when I feel scattered, when I have floated away from myself. It brings me back. It grounds me. It clears the static. It is a moving meditation, a way to remember that I have a field worth protecting.

Protect this space.
A reminder that I get to choose what enters my space and what stays out. That I am allowed to guard my own energy. That I am not alone. I am safe. I do this ritual because I tend to dissociate. I float away from myself. This brings me back. It is somatic. It is moving meditation. It grounds me in my body and clears my mind.
The pentagram on this shirt is the traditional one from the LBRP. Blue for the star. Red for the circle around it. In the Golden Dawn system, the blue pentagram represents the active, protective energy of the ritual. The red circle seals the space, holding the energy in and keeping what does not belong out. Together, they form a boundary made visible. A reminder that I am allowed to take up space. That I am allowed to protect it.

Adore the sun.
I did not know what a solar adoration was until my husband showed me the Resh. I had no idea there was a daily practice of greeting the sun at dawn, noon, sunset, and midnight. It sounded like a lot. But I was curious. I liked something somatic, something simple, something that brought me back to my body.
I think about the cats. They follow the sun spots across the floor throughout the day. They find the warm patches and they settle in. They know the sun is good for them. Everything reaches for the light. There is something ancient and simple about turning my face toward the sun and letting it remind me that I am alive. That I am a part of all of this.
The original ritual is full of old, big words that I did not understand at first. That is why I wrote the album Adore The Sun. I wanted to translate it into something I could feel. I wanted to understand what the words I was saying actually meant.
The first half of each song is the original verse. The second half is my interpretation.
I greet the sun when I can. I forget some days. I start over the next day.
These are the lines that are resonating with me right now. I thought someone else might need them too. If you do, they are here. And if you do not, that is okay too. I mostly just wanted to put the thoughts out there.
Thank you for looking.
