That line is from the Blue Jay song. He says it like a dare. Like he knows something I do not. Like he has been in the dark before and came out fine.
I do not always trust the dark. I want to know the outcome. I want to see the path. I want to be sure before I move. I want to skip the uncomfortable part and get straight to the answer.
But, the dark is where roots grow. The dark is where the seeds split open. The dark is where the soil holds everything together. The dark is where the acorn becomes an oak before anyone sees a single leaf.
I have spent so much of my life trying to avoid the dark parts. Trying to stay in the light where I can see everything. Trying to control the outcome so I do not have to sit in the not knowing. But the not knowing is part of it. The waiting is part of it. The dark is part of it.
