The Sky Remembers Too | Cardinal In Mourning | Loss | Grieving | Love Still Moves | Grief Is The Sky | Fear Is The Branch | Encouragement Card | 4x6
I made this card for the ones who are carrying something heavy.
For the ones who are sitting with loss that has no timeline.
For the ones who are grieving something that cannot be fixed.
For the ones who need permission to stay in the ache instead of rushing through it.
The cardinal in my music began with an emotion painting, inspired by David Choe. One night. One piece of paper. One unplanned messy cardinal.
I wrote three words in three colors.
Grief in blue.
Anger in red.
Fear in brown.
I just let the feelings land where they wanted. The blue stretched across the page like the sky. The brown held the space like a branch. The red found its place like a bird.
That painting became a song. That song became an album. INTERLVDE. The pause. The permission to play. The reminder that grief does not have to be solved. It just has to be felt. I can exit the mood when I am ready.
The cardinal taught me something.
Grief is the sky. Big. Vast. Holding everything.
Grief is not a small feeling.
Grief is the whole atmosphere.
Grief is the thing that makes space for all the other feelings.
Fear is the branch. Solid. Grounded. A place to rest.
Fear is not the enemy.
Fear gives me footing.
Fear gives me somewhere to stand while everything else is big and uncertain.
Anger is the bird. Movement. Flight. Song.
Anger is not destruction.
Anger is the thing that still cares enough to react.
Anger is the thing that has not given up.
Anger is the thing that is still alive.
The sky remembers too. The sky holds the memory of everything that has passed through it. The grief. The fear. The anger. The love. All of it is remembered. All of it is held.
To me, the cardinal is all of it together. Grief and fear and anger. All of it held in one red bird.
I used to think anger was something to suppress. Something to hide. Something to be ashamed of.
Now I know anger is love that has been hurt.
Anger is love that has been betrayed.
Anger is love that is still fighting.
Anger is love that has not given up.
The cardinal is anger that has been allowed to move.
Anger that has been given wings.
Anger that has become something beautiful.
The cardinal is anger that has become love.
That is what this card holds to me.
For whoever needs permission to feel all of it.
Permission to let grief be the sky.
Permission to let fear be the branch.
Permission to let anger be the bird that flies.
Loss is not just a person.
Loss is a relationship.
A job.
An animal.
An identity.
A version of yourself that no longer exists.
A dream that changed.
A life that looks different than you imagined.
All of it is grief. All of it is valid. All of it belongs.
This card is for the ones who are sitting in the ache.
For the ones who are still looking for the red.
For the ones who need permission to stay in the feeling.
I just wanted to put the thought out there, because this song helps me.
I wanted someone to read "The sky remembers too" and feel held.
I wanted someone to read "Fear is the branch" and feel supported.
I wanted someone to know they are not alone.
Thank you for looking.
The sky remembers too. Love still moves.
