A Note on This Poster
"The mess was the masterpiece."
I wrote that line at the end of my album Mirror, Mirror Off The Wall. It's a way of saying that all of it: the rage, the depression, the false selves, the mirror work, the days I couldn't look, the days I finally could. It all mattered.
I thought the goal was to erase the chaos, to smooth over the rough edges, to present a version of myself that was neat and acceptable.
But I've learned that the mess was never something to escape. It was the raw material. The compost. The thing that made the art possible. The songs I wrote, the mirror work I did, the person I'm becoming. None of it would exist without the mess.
Abraham Hicks talks about using contrast to clarify what you want. The struggle, the confusion, the feeling of being lost. It all sharpens the ask. It's not the enemy. It's the teacher.
Louise Hay taught that the body maps what the mind carries. The symptoms, the aches, the picking, the patterns; they weren't random. They were part of a conversation I wasn't ready to have. The mess was the language I hadn't learned to read yet.
Now I look back and I see it differently. The tears, the late nights, the breakdowns, the breakthroughs — they were never wasted.
The mess was never something to escape. It was something to make art from.
Thank you for looking.
