I Love You Anyway | Dirty Mirror Don't Care | Depression Is Rage | Little One Inside | Mirror Hissed First | Loui Crow Lyrics | Set of 5 Pin Buttons 2.25"
$20.00
Each one has a line from a song I wrote. Each one is a step on the journey. From avoiding the mirror to healing in front of it.
I love you anyway.
That line is from my song Mirror, Mirror Off The Wall. It is the most streamed song I have written. It still surprises me that something so personal could ripple out like this.
I wrote this song for the days I need the mirror to speak for me. The days I do not have the words. The days I just need to look and stay.
Louise Hay taught that we have been bullying ourselves for years, and that maybe we could try being kind instead. But I could not get there right away. I could not say "I approve of myself" at first. Those words felt too big. Too far away.
So I started more general. I started with "I am willing." I am willing to like myself. I am willing to change. I am willing to receive.
"I love you anyway" became my anchor. A reminder that I do not have to be fixed to be loved. I do not have to be polished to be held. I just have to show up.
Dirty mirror, don't care.
That line is from a song by the same name. A song about learning to stop polishing every surface. About leaving the smudges. About letting the mirror hold my face and the dust.
I could not leave the house without putting my face on. I polished my skin for every pair of eyes. I scanned faces for signs of disappointment.
Now I clean my mirror once a week. I leave the mess in between. Proof I was here.
The past is over. It has no power over me. The future comes as it comes. The glass holds my face and the dust. Dirty mirror, don't care.
Depression is rage with nowhere to go.
That line is from my song Pretender, on the album FVNERAL of False Selves. It came from a place I know well. A place where I had been performing being fine for so long that I forgot I was allowed to feel anything else.
Depression kept me in a place where I did not want to be alive. I had no energy to move. No hope to hold onto.
Anger was the first rung that moved me. It gave me permission to want something different. It gave me energy to change my circumstance.
I have learned that I cannot skip the anger. When I try to stuff it down, it turns into pain in my body. Migraines. Fibromyalgia. IBS. Hives. Louise Hay maps those emotional patterns to physical symptoms. The body carries what the mind cannot process.
Little one inside, you're safe with me.
That line is from my song For The Little One Inside, on the album Mirror, Mirror Off The Wall.
I look in my left eye when I want to visit Sarah. My ghost eye. The one who learned to disappear. The one who was told she was too much, too sensitive, too dramatic.
I used to look in that eye and find a reason to hate. Now I look in that eye and find her. I tell her she is safe. I tell her she is seen. I tell her she is not too much.
The left eye holds a girl who stopped asking for help. Who stopped believing a hand would catch her. Who forgot the sound of her own laugh.
Now I wrap my arms around me. She is held at last. The glass shows how.
The mirror hissed first.
That line is from a song by the same name. The one about the snake in the glass. The one where I realized the hiss I feared was my own voice.
I left myself in the mirror again. I did not know the snake was my friend. Every ache was a whisper. I leaned in. The rattle in the glass where secrets leak.
The squeeze was a teacher. The coil was a signal to soften. The snake was never the enemy.
From the days I could not look. To the days I started to try. To the days I flinched and rose. To the days I kissed my own face in front of strangers and called it healing.
You don’t need these pins to know you’re lovable. I just wanted someone scrolling to read "I love you anyway" and feel something soften in them. I wanted someone to read "dirty mirror don't care" and feel permission to be who they really are. I wanted someone to read "little one inside, you're safe with me" and think: maybe I can say that to myself too.
That is the real mission. The pins are just a way to carry the words with you.
Thank you for looking. Thank you for being here.
Crow is watching.
