I made this card for the moments that cannot be planned.
Red is the color of life, of fire, of the heart that keeps beating even when it is tired. Red is the color of the bird that shows up when you least expect it.
This card is for the ones who are grieving. For the ones who are angry. For the ones who are afraid. For the ones who are in the middle of the hard season and cannot see the way out. To me, the cardinal is all of it together. Grief and anger and fear and love. All of it held in one red bird.
Grief is the sky. Vast and open and holding everything.
Fear is the branch. Solid enough to rest on.
Anger is the red. The heat. The flash. The thing that still cares enough to move.
And the cardinal is the shape these emotions take when they are allowed to land.
I hope something beautiful finds you when you need it most. Simply because you are still showing up. Simply because beauty has a way of landing in the places that are ready to receive it.
Cardinals are messengers.
They say: I see you. I am with you. Love is near.
I have had my own cardinals. A bird that landed on my porch on a hard day. A kind message from a stranger. A moment of grace that arrived right when I needed it.
