I wrote that line in the song "ENOUGH" from my album GORGEOUS. It came from a night I needed to draw a line. A night I reached for a knife instead of just letting it happen. I didn't have to use it, but he understood I was done. A night I learned that "no" is a complete sentence, even when my voice (and whole body) shook.
That night changed something in me. After it, I started getting more tattoos. To reclaim. To cover old stories with new ones. To mark my body as mine. The blackout work, the hearts on my face. All of it started with that moment of saying "enough."
The song is part of an album about my body learning to fold, and then learning to stand. About being influenced by violence or coercion and also taking responsibility for my own healing. About the mess of it all — the freeze, the fawn, the fear, and eventually the steel.
Louise Hay taught that we've been bullying ourselves for years, and that maybe we could try being kind instead. But I couldn't get there right away. I had to feel my anger first. I had to learn that my body is mine — not a gift, not a target, not a sacrifice. And then I had to practice saying "no."
I don't own this tank myself (yet). But I love the idea of someone wearing it who knows what it means to draw a line. To stand in their own space and say "hands where I can see them." It's not about being tough. It's about being done.
