Grief | Everything Is Just The Way It Should Be | A Little Bird Told Me | Loui Crow Lyric | Scented Soy Candle 9 oz
This is a song from my album INTERLVDE.
The pause.
The permission to play.
I wrote it while I was in the middle of my FVNERAL of False Selves, that double album where I wrote 22 eulogies for different survival parts of me. Each one was a ghost. Each one was a tarot card reversed. Each one was a piece of me I had to name and bury.
I never knew what to do with tarot cards before. I wanted to understand them but I did not know how to apply them, especially the reversed meanings. So I made this album a deep tarot study. I learned about the cards. I learned about my ghosts. I learned about the parts of me that kept me alive but kept me small.
But INTERLVDE was different. INTERLVDE was the break I gave myself in the middle of all that grief work. A reminder not to take it all too seriously. A reminder that death is not that serious. A reminder that funeral is just a mood.
A reminder that play keeps the ghosts away.
Everything is fine.
Everything is good.
Everything is just the way it should be.
A little bird told me.
That little bird is presence. The bird does not fix anything. It visits.
Cardinal is the one who sits with grief.
Cardinal says "I never really left."
Crow is the one who holds the space.
Crow says "I saw it all."
Blue Jay is the one who interrupts the silence.
Blue Jay says "Come with me."
Each bird brings something different to me. Each bird offers a different kind of presence. But they all say the same thing in their own way: you are not alone. You are not forgotten. Someone is here.
This song is a reminder of that. A reminder that there is something watching over you. Something that visits. Something that stays. Something that nudges you forward. Something that says everything is good.
I still need reminders like that.
I still need the little bird to tell me things are okay.
I still need the pause.
I still need the permission to play.
I am still learning not to take it all so seriously.
May you have a little bird that visits you.
May you have a crow that sits with you.
May you have a blue jay that calls you forward.
May a cardinal visit and remind you that you are not alone.
May you give yourself permission to play.
