I made these pins for the two voices that live in my work.
Crow is the witness. She holds the space. She names the wound. She remembers everything. She stays.
Blue Jay is the voice. He cracks the day. He interrupts the silence. He dares you to grow. He lifts your feet.
They are two sides of the same coin.
Crow says: "I remember everything. It is safe to feel this."
Blue Jay says: "Now that you feel it, what will you say?"
Crow says: "The danger is past. You are safe to be seen."
Blue Jay says: "Good. Now let yourself grow."
To me, Nuit is the Crow. The infinite night sky. The one who holds everything. The witness who sees all and asks nothing in return. She is the space in which everything happens.
Nuit says: "I am the infinite. I hold you. I see you. I remember."
Hadit is the Blue Jay. The point in the center. The spark that cuts through. The voice that says "speak." The flame that says "move." He is the one who interrupts the silence.
Hadit says: "I am the center. I am the spark. I am the one who says now."
Each pin holds a voice I need to hear.
"Forests grow when you don't poke seeds."
This is the voice that says: stop hovering. Stop trying to control the outcome. The forest knows how to grow. The roots know where to go. I do not have to manage every step of the process. I can plant the seed and trust the dirt. I can let the forest grow in its own time.
"Crow is watching over you."
This is the voice that sees me. The one that stays. The one that does not turn away. The witness who holds space for all of it. The one who says: you are not alone. You are seen. You are held. You are loved.
"Trust the dark."
This is the voice that says: the dark is not the enemy. The dark is where the seeds grow. The dark is where the roots reach down. The dark is where I find my footing before I rise. Trust the dark. It is holding you. It is preparing you. It is the soil before the bloom.
"We fly at last."
This is the voice that says: the waiting is over. The grief has been witnessed. The danger is past. The dark has done its work. Now we rise. Now we move. Now we fly. Not because we are healed. Because we are ready.
"Peck sorry off my lips."
This is the voice that interrupts my apologies. The one that pecks the sorry off my lips before I can say it. The one that says: you do not have to apologize for existing. You do not have to shrink. You do not have to fold your hands and make yourself small anymore. Speak. Claim your ground. Let yourself grow.
I am an over-apologetic person. I learned it young. I learned it from authoritarian parents and school culture that demanded compliance. I was sorry for existing. I am still unlearning that.
These pins are for that unlearning. For the part of me that needs permission to speak. For the part of me that needs to trust the dark. For the part of me that needs to stop poking the seeds and let the forest grow.
