I made these pins for two voices that live in my work.
Crow is the witness. She holds the space. She names the wound. She remembers everything. She stays.
Blue Jay is the voice. He cracks the day. He interrupts the silence. He dares me to grow. He lifts my feet.
They are two sides of the same coin.
Crow says: "I remember everything. It is safe to feel this."
Blue Jay says: "Now that you feel it, what will you say?"
Crow says: "The danger is past. You are safe to be seen."
Blue Jay says: "Good. Now let yourself grow."
Nuit, to me, is the Crow. The infinite night sky. The one who holds everything. The witness who sees all and asks nothing in return. She is the space in which everything happens.
Nuit says: "I am the infinite. I hold you. I see you. I remember."
Hadit is the Blue Jay. The point in the center. The spark that cuts through. The voice that says "speak." The flame that says "move." He is the one who interrupts the silence.
Hadit says: "I am the center. I am the spark. I am the one who says: now."
Each pin holds a voice I need to hear.
"Drop it, let dirt do its thing."
This is the voice that says: stop hovering. Stop poking the seeds. Stop trying to control how things grow. The forest knows what to do. The roots know. I do not have to manage every outcome. I can drop it. I can let the dirt do its work.
"Blue Jay says speak. Startle the air."
This is the voice that interrupts my silence. The one that pecks the sorry off my lips. The one that says: your voice is a spark. Trust it. Startle the air. Do not apologize for taking up space.
"The danger's past."
This is the voice I need when I am bracing for impact that already happened. When my body is still in the old moment. When my shoulders are still guarding the wound. The danger is past. The fight is over. I am safe to be seen.
"Future can't grow when you stand on it."
This is the voice that lifts my feet. The one that says: momentum is waiting. Action is calling. I cannot plant a future while I am still standing in it. I have to move. I have to trust the leap. The tree will still be there when I land.
"Crow is watching over you."
This is the voice that sees me. The one that stays. The one that does not turn away. The witness who holds space for all of it. The one who says: you are not alone. You are seen. You are safe. You are loved.
I am an over-apologetic person. I learned it young. I learned it from authoritarian parents and school culture that demanded compliance. I learned to be small. I was learned to fold my hands and say sorry for existing. I am still unlearning that.
These words are for that unlearning.
You do not need my product to remember that you are allowed to speak. That the danger is past, or to remember that you can drop the burden and let the dirt do its thing. That the future is waiting for you to move. That you are seen, you are held, you are loved. These pins are just a way to carry the words with you.
