Do You See Me When I Hate Me? | Inner Child | I Love You More | Mirror Work | Loui Crow Lyric | Mug with Color Inside 11 oz
“The little one inside asks:
Do you see me when I hide?
When I hate my own face?
When I hate what I feel?
Do you see me when I hate me?”
For the ones who look in the mirror and feel like a stranger.
For the ones who pick themselves apart.
For the ones who have hated their own face.
For the ones who have hated what they feel.
For the ones who have wondered: would anyone notice if I was gone?
That line is from my song: I Love You More. It is the question Sarah, my inner child, still asks. The one who learned to hide. The one who thought she was too much, not enough, too sensitive, too dramatic. The one who learned to disappear and smile politely. The one who didn’t want to be here.
“When you feel like trash in the dump,
that’s when I show up.
When you feel like you are nothing,
I see you as everything.”
Crow is the symbol I chose for my Higher Self. Source. God. The universe looking through my eyes. The voice on the other side of the mirror. The one between my eyes. Whatever you want to call it. Crow is that voice for me. The one who stays. The one who sees you even when you feel alone.
“The dark feelings come with no warning.
They come to be held.
They come to be known.
They come to be felt.
I love you more than every feather on every crow.
I love you more than the dark can throw.
I love you more than every tear you've cried.
I love you more than you will ever know.
The ache is the reaching.
The reaching is the love.
I am not leaving.”
(The full lyrics are on my website under the singles tab.)
The ache in your muscle is my love reaching.
The shiver is the beginning of wings.
The fear is the measure of your love.
I see you.
I stay.
I am not leaving.
I wrote this song for the quiet after my funeral of false selves. For the stillness after the mirror. For the place where I found myself still clenching and realized my inner child still needed more reassurance. She still gets in her head. She still wonders if she matters. She still needs to hear that she is loved, no matter what.
This is a reminder that the question is heard. The question is held. The question is not the end. The question is the beginning of the answer.
You are seen.
Even on the days you cannot stand yourself.
Even on the days you hate what you see.
Even on the days you want to disappear.
Crow sees you. Crow loves you more.
Thank you for looking.
Crow is watching over you.
